Gas mark 10

Things have been heating up in the Fable Folk kitchen. Lot's of custom orders coming in left, right and centre which is lovely. I just finished this sugar skull and sent it off to a new home in NSW. With a few more orders to get through and a couple more skulls to conjure, the next couple of weeks look set to be very, very busy.

Skulls are fun an' all, but I'm looking forward to pumping out a few Christmas/Seasonal items. I have a few stocking ideas to throw around and some bauble patterns I've been wanting to try out, think felt and velvet and crewel embroidery.

On top of all the custom orders and Christmas bits I have fifty new one off cushions to add to the shop in the coming weeks, think lots and lots of colourful polkadots on grey wool army blankets. I'm stupidly excited about these ones and will know doubt post them all over instagram when they come back from the sweatshop/uber lovely sewing lady.

until next time friends.

paintings by MSG, Skullz by moi and cute kids crowding around the face painting lady.

Cintia Gonzalez in full Frida regalia and a tin folk art installation by Maria Pizziruso

If an opening night crowd is any indication of the success of a show, then my bet is that the Para Los Santos show at MSG is going to be a sell out. So many people came out to show their support and have a good night. With the champagne flowing and churros to soak it up, we were treated to some amazing face painting and lots of good conversations. It's been so lovely to work with Maurice (MSG) and Maria, I'm just sorry I couldn't get any more pictures on the night.

Para Los Santos is on at MSG Galley 126 Bay Street, Brighton until the 17th of November.

tagging

I'd been toying with the idea of gocco printing some custom swing tags for a few weeks. The sugar skulls going into next weeks show at MSG Gallery are a bit more kitsch and a LOT more colourful than the stuff I usually make so I felt they needed a swing tag to match.  Last night I got my chance and pulled out the dusty little print wonder in a box and got to work. I kept it fairly simple and went with neon pink on linen and backed with a lurid sixties floral from my fabric stash. I think they turned out peachy!

PARA LOS SANTOS

This is what I am working towards at the moment. Eight enormous, vibrant sugar skull cushions for a very exciting Dia De Los Muertos exhibition at MSG Gallery in Brighton, check out the facebook page here. With one week to go I have (of course) got a shit load of work to do, but nothing particularly surprising about that. I also have a second piece on the go for a show at Gleaners Inc opening in November as well, should probably get a shuffle on then.
